Rainforest CafeImagine being surrounded by lush vegetation, the sounds of teaming wildlife and the aromas of wonderful food. Sound like a slice of heaven? If you happen to visit the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown![]() Before you even enter the restaurant you are all but promised an exciting experience. Outside the building is shaped like a volcano which smokes and rumbles to life periodically, spewing steam and vapor. There are animatronic animals along the outside of the building as well, and often there are live parraots and macaws being displayed. The entrance is shaded by a huge mushroom canopy and the host/hostess desk is shaped as an elephant. When you give your name you are asked for your safari's name and given a card for seating. Be warned, the waits for tables can be very long. While you wait for your safari to begin you can browse the huge store attached to the
restaurant. It is packed with earth-wise, animal-themed and logo'd merchandise. In the When, finally, you here the announcement that, "You're adventure is about to
begin," you are led to host or hostess who will seat you in the restaurant. This is
when the jaw-dropping fun of the place truely begins. As you walk through the seating area
you see lush vegetation and many animatronic animals that spring to life from time to
time. The seating area is dark enough that you can enjoy each other's company yet, lively
enough to not be stuffy. Indeed many may find this eatery too noisy to be considered
romantic. But, the noise is just plain fun! Periodically, the room darkens even more and
peals of thunder echo thorugh the dining room. The lights flash to simulate lightning and
rain actually begins to fall in designated areas (don't worry The food is wonderful, too. An ecelctic upgrade of old favorites like pot roast and country fried steak. But, not like anything you have ever had before. The portions are large, the food extremely rich and flavorful and the presentation festive. As a romantic destination this may not be the top choice of many but, for sheer fun and excitement its hard to beat the Rainforest Cafe. |
