For over four months Kim and I had been dating.  In that time I gotten her interested in going to Disney with me and we have visited WDW several times together. As a matter of fact she purchased a Florida Resident Seasonal pass so she could go with me.  This was our  fourth trip.

Usually on our trips we try to eat at one or two nice restaurants so that we can report back on them here.  This time, however, we attended the The Epcot Food and Wine tasting Grand Tasting held at the Odyssey center.  We had been looking forward to it for several weeks.

We arrived a few minutes early and sat at a table outside the former Odyssey restaurant, waiting to be admitted. As we did we gazed at the stars, watched as the monorail slid past a few times and generally enjoyed the romantic ambiance of the night.  After only a few minutes the doors opened and we were let in to a beautifully decorated room that smelled wonderful.  Winery tables were set up with several wines from each available for the tasting.  The air was thick with the wonderful aromas of the foods master chefs had prepared for the event.  As we moved from table to table sampling the wonderful fare I kept looking at Kim.

Our relationship, while still young, had truly matured and for the first time in many years I believed I had found a  wonderfully exceptional person.  As we continued to move between the tables I realized that my feelings had changed from just enjoying being with this beautiful woman to feeling love for her.

After the tasting ended we exited, hand-in-hand, out to the World Showcase just in time to watch Illuminations from the shores of the Mexican Pavilion.  The fireworks popped and the lasers blazed all the while I was planning my next move.  I had to tell her and, since Disney has always been an extremely romantic place for us I thought it would make it so much more special if I uttered those three little words there.

I waited until the show had finished and as the crowd began to file towards the park exit I pulled Kim to the little walkway through the tropical forests next to the Mexican pyramid.  It was quiet there as most people were moving away from the area, trying to get through the crowds to their cars.  I kissed her and, when our lips parted, looked her in the eye and told her, "There's something that has been on my mind, something I want to tell you.  I think I love you.  Actually, I don't have to think, I know, I love you."

Her breath caught in her throat and her chest heaved.  And, in a wavering voice, she told me she had been trying not to let that happen, that she was afraid of being hurt but, that she loved me too.  We hugged each other tight for long moments, and kissed again.  When we separated I suggested we take the long way to the park entrance.  We walked around the World Showcase Lagoon, hand-in-hand, excited that our relationship had risen to a new level.

To cap the evening off I suggested we have a glass of wine at the California Grill.  We sat next tot he window, watching the colors of the lights shining on the castle change.  We sipped our wine and gazed into each other's eyes.   The evening was magical and something I will always remember.

Our Second story is from Shawn.  He tells of the beautifully romantic way that he proposed to his fiancée at the Magic Kingdom.  Congratulations Sean and Valentina, may all your wishes come true together.

A Cinderella Story! My engagement to Valentina. To plan our engagement I contacted Walt Disney World. Disney is a magical place for us and I wanted Valentina to feel like Cinderella!

I told Valentina that I had a weekend company conference at Disney and we were to attend a roped-off event with fireworks next to Cinderella's Castle.  She was ecstatic about going.

A few days before we left Disney called and said that the fireworks were canceled due to the Florida fires and would not continue unless there was rain!  I was upset that my plan had gone sour! I offered it up to the families who were victims of the fires and prayed for them. I didn't want to be selfish and I knew I'd make the best of it! Everyday I checked for rain. Then, the good news came that the fireworks were back on.   Florida's families received rain and Disney was able to show their fireworks!!

We checked into the Wilderness Lodge. Valentina opened an envelope waiting at the front desk. It read that Disney requested my company's presence for "Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks" at the Rose Garden next to Cinderella's Castle. One of the most romantic spots at Disney.

We had plans to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. We arrived at the castle to see it changing in colors! First blue, then white and purple! The Cinderella Story had begun! Cinderella's Fairy Godmother was there to greet us. I purposely asked Valentina to watch the cartoon, which became her favorite!! Then Cinderella appeared! I told Valentina she was my Cinderella tonight. She smiled and said she loved me! She looked as though she had a glow, maybe it was me, but she really looked beautiful!!  I whispered to the Fairy Godmother that I was about to propose. To my surprise she pulled out fairy dust, sprinkled it in Valentina's hair and then hugged her saying "you have a nice man, good luck my child, I wish you all the best"! Valentina was speechless!

We headed for the Rose Garden where a Disney cast member was waiting.   He secretively handed me something. The final moment had come. I was happy, but nervous!! The castle was in perfect view and the smell of roses everywhere. There was a beautiful Victorian green iron canopy of twinkling lights and under it a Victorian love seat, a white laced table, chocolate truffles on a silver platter, a champagne bucket with sparkling apple cider, Mickey and Minnie crystal toasting flutes and a bouquet of a dozen red roses. It was better than I had expected! Before the reality set in, the lights in the park dimmed, the music started and he said "I'll leave you two alone!". I sat Valentina down, gave her the roses and knelt on one knee. Just then, Tinkerbell flew from the top of the castle over us. She started to cry as I took out of my pocket what the Disney Cast member had given me.  It was a glass slipper with a sparkling platinum diamond ring inside of it! I said "Valentina, I've searched long and hard for the person that would fit the ring that lies within this glass slipper and I was unable to find anyone that would be a perfect match for it. Until now, I found you, a true princess. Valentina, I've chosen Cinderella's Castle because it signifies a stronghold of our love, trust, loyalty, happiness, friendship and romance. I've chosen this Rose Garden, because it signifies our love blossoming each day into something more beautiful than the next. I've chosen Disney, because it brings a smile to people's faces when they're here as it does when we’re here and I'd like our smiles to last a lifetime. And finally Valentina I've chosen you, to share all of my dreams, build a family, have children with and to spend the rest of my days with!!!! So, I ask you my princess, will you make me the happiest man ever? Will you marry me?"

She said NO, just kidding she said YES!!! Then we hugged and kissed as the Fireworks exploded over us!!!! I told her the whole company thing wasn't real, and she laughed! Then I walked over to a CD player cued to play our favorite songs to dance to!!!! As we danced a crowd cheered for us. When we finished' Disney had arranged VIP seats for the Spectro Magic Parade, Valentina's favorite thing! This was truly a Cinderella story!

Here's our first fantastic story.  I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did.   That Stan is one romantic fellow!  Congratulations Stan and Kathy, we hope you have many happy years ahead of you.

lovebul.gif (425 bytes)~*~ lovebul.gif (425 bytes)

Stan and I went on a vacation to WDW in November, 1996. Stan had been acting kind of nervous all week. I thought he was just so unused to relaxing. One day Stan suggested that we play a game we often play at shopping malls. We agreed to separate for a period of time and buy the other person a small gift. We agreed we would separate for an hour and spend no more than $20 before returning to Cinderella's castle. I bought Stan a hat in Adventureland. With tax I spent a little over $20. Stan returned late. He was out of breath. He gave me a small 25th anniversary pin and a Seven Dwarves night shirt. He told me that he went WAY over the limit. It seemed strange to me because I had been looking at the nightshirt earlier in the week and I knew it was about $18.

The last night of our stay we had reservations at Victoria & Albert's. As we dressed, I noticed that Stan was sweating. I thought that it was the Florida heat. We drove the rental car to the Grand Floridian. At the valet parking area, I exited the car and asked where the restaurant was located. I noticed that Stan was talking with the parking attendant for an extended period of time. When he finally came over to me he explained that the parking attendant had requested a tip and he didn't have any cash. I was angry for three reasons: 1. I had put some cash in Stan's pocket for tipping; 2. You usually tip a parking attendant when he returns the car; 3. How dare he actually ASK for a tip. I didn't let it bother me too much, and we went inside. We were early, so we spent some time looking at the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations.

Stan really wanted to check on the reservation, so I waited in the lobby while he went to the restaurant. I thought that they wouldn't even be open yet. Silly Stan. He returned to say that our table was ready. Wow! We had dinner, and our Victoria and our Albert were so wonderful! It was the best service I had ever had in my life. It was time for desert. A dozen roses were placed on the table. I thought that this was part of the dinner. A covered silver tray was placed in front of me. I was really looking forward to the blueberry cheesecake soufflé and assumed it was under the silver cover. When the waitress removed the cover, I couldn't believe my eyes! On the tray there was a glass slipper. It was engraved: Will you marry me?. Inside the slipper was a beautiful diamond ring. The slipper was surrounded by rose petals. Stan got down on one knee and told me that he loved me (I don't remember most of it) and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES, and we were both crying. The other people in the room congratulated us and wanted to see the ring.

Now, here's why Stan was acting so strange. He had put the ring in a safety deposit box at Dixie Landings, and was always checking on it. Sometimes he would say he was going for a soda, and return in a 1/2 hour although the soda machine was around the corner from our room. When we had our shopping surprise game, he made all of the arrangements for the glass slipper, the engraving , the roses, and arranged to have all of it delivered to Victoria & Albert's (thank you Guest Services). When he was talking to the parking attendant, he was actually telling him that the ring box was hidden under the seat of the car and asking him to deliver it. he wanted to check on the reservation to make sure that they received everything.

After the proposal, we stopped back at Dixie Landings to call family. My parents already knew because he had asked my father's permission before we left (not a small task considering he lived in Connecticut at the time and my parents live in New Jersey). Then we went to Pleasure Island. I told everyone we were engaged. Most people looked at me funny. When we went into the Adventurer's Club, we were talking to one of the CMs who announced it to the whole room!

We're were married on April 18th. We had a Mickey & Minnie caketopper (which we actually purchased the day BEFORE he proposed). I displayed the "slipper" on the cake table along with the Mickey & Minnie knives. We honeymooned at Walt Disneyworld, and we be stayed at the GRAND FLORIDIAN!
